This comedy was released in 1979, and is like many of Neil Simon’s plays, an autobiographical story about his life. This is a touching and hilarious story of relationships that mixes, love, heartache and the frustrations that go along with trying to begin a new life. The verdict must be unanimous. It is an engrossing drama in which eleven jurors believe the defendant is guilty, and one juror stands up courageously to persuade the others of his innocence. It begins as a comedy about two men who do not want to be in the same room together, and becomes a gripping and moving story of getting to know each other, coming to care about each other, and exposing old wounds they have been hiding and nursing for years. This Neil Simon comedy, winner of the Writers Guild of America Award in 1970, is about Barney Cashman a gentle, middle-aged, married man who is in hot pursuit of the 60’s sexual revolution before it passes him by.
