The Marco Players announced three new board members;  Ron Moores, Jim Swanker and Gerry Seiff.
"Each new member has been extremely active as a volunteer in this theater prior to their new board position," said Beverly Dahlstrom, Marco Players president. "Their skills and their commitment to the success of the theater will help continue our mission into the future and allow us to share the experience of 'live performance art' on Marco Island.
Lighting is an integral part of any production here at The Marco Players Theater. For years, we have been living with a huge shadow on the back wall of the stage.

So, when I accepted the position of Production Manager, I decided my number one goal was to improve this most important aspect of our theater. In order to accomplish this task, it was absolutely necessary to increase the type and number of lighting instruments that we use to light our stage. New instruments would allow us to upgrade our lighting from just merely illuminating the stage, to being able to create greater artistic effects such as creating the feeling of three dimensional form;  focusing the audience’s attention on a specific area of stage; setting the tone and time of day with color; and the important ability to project scenery and design anywhere on the stage set.

To help me complete this project, we were fortunate to have Mark Perrin join the theater as our new technical director.  Mark’s knowledge, fortitude and technical skills helped us guide this project to fruition. During the past few months, we more than tripled our lighting instruments, located them throughout the theatre and replaced the old wiring.

Chapter Two has 86 lighting changes. So, from now on when you watch a performance on the stage of “the best little theatre in Southwest Florida”, I’m sure that you’ll agree that your level of enjoyment is much greater than in the past.
